Which format should I pick?
JPG is the safest choice for photos and works everywhere. PNG keeps sharp edges and transparency, which suits logos and screenshots. WebP is usually smaller than both and is supported by all current browsers.
Transparent images and JPG
JPG cannot store transparency. When you convert a transparent PNG or WebP to JPG, the clear areas are filled with the background colour you choose (white by default).
Metadata
The converted file is rebuilt from the pixels, so EXIF data such as camera details and GPS location is not carried over. Use the photo metadata checker if you want to see what a file contained.
Quality
Converting to JPG or WebP is lossy. A quality of 90 or more is hard to tell apart from the original for most photos. Converting a JPG to PNG makes the file larger without adding detail.
Questions
Are my images uploaded?
No. The conversion runs in your browser tab and nothing is sent to a server.
Can I convert HEIC or AVIF?
Only if your browser can open them. Safari opens HEIC, and current browsers open AVIF. If yours cannot, you will see a message for that file.
Why can I not pick some formats?
The tool saves JPG, PNG and WebP, which every modern browser can write.
Is there a limit on how many images I can convert?
Up to 30 at a time. Very large images depend on your device memory.
